Taxation, Customs and Trade Regulation

In addition to major international tax planning for our corporate clients, we currently handle fiscal litigation amounting to over US$150M.

As the country toughens its tax laws, Mexican companies retain our services to handle specialized projects, including international transactions, and foreign clients seek our in - depth knowledge of Mexican tax laws.

The firm's approach to tax issues is frequently from a transactional perspective. We are generally responsible for assisting our client to negotiate, document and structure commercial transactions as well as manage the tax aspects of these transactions. We offer legal guidance in business transactions, including the sale and purchase of businesses, recapitalization and reorganization of closely-held and publicly-held corporations, joint ventures, and the organization and financing of start-up companies. We handle tax litigation at all judicial and administrative levels and applications for tax rulings. For non-Mexican clients, we are involved in the acquisition, merger and restructuring of foreign-owned interests in Mexico.

With respect to WTO law, including unfair trade practices –such as dumping and subsidizing- we represent clients regarding countervailing duties imposed by Mexican authorities. Our team further advises our clientele with respect to a wide range of procedures concerning customs.
